Florence - A Great City for Family Vacation
Many of the most influential artists in history were Florentines.
These historic figures had a profound impact on the Renaissance
and Western Culture in general. In Florence one can study Italian
civilization, culture, art and language in the heart of Florence;
one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Florence is filled with bustling leather markets, ornate palaces,
fortresses and cathedrals. Medieval streets twist and turn in a bewildering
maze and the most unpretentious doorway might lead to a fabulous cloister
or hidden piazza. Florence provides you with the opportunity to shop
in the busy Il Mercato Centrale for wide varieties of fresh foods
or to study works of art at world famous museums such as La Galleria
degli Uffizi. After dining on traditional bistecca alla Fiorentina,
the evening can be spent walking along the River Arno with friends
or dancing the night away in the many clubs and ritzy cafés
located throughout the old city’s center.
|
Because Florence is centrally located, you can easily explore the
whole of Tuscany and many of Italy’s other regions. The leaning
tower of Pisa, the Forum of Rome and the canals of Venice are all
easily accessible by train. Other day trips could include Verona,
the setting of Romeo and Juliet; Cinque Terre for a breathtaking cliff
walk; or a beach picnic on Elba, the island of Napoleon’s exile.
Whether you enjoy studying the creative process behind photography,
learning the art of Italian cooking, discovering the hidden facets
of Leonardo da Vinci or perfecting their Italian language skills,
the CEA Florence program has it all.
